Anna Orosz is the Head of Research and Senior Researcher of Gnosis Institute. Before joining our team in January 2025, she worked for more than 10 years as research fellow and program manager in the Hungarian Institute of International Affairs (also known as Institute for Foreign Affairs and Trade between August 2014 and March 2024) where she carried out research about political and security situation in the Western Balkan countries and followed closely their EU integration process and the role of international actors in the region. She gained her M.A. in International Relations from the Corvinus University of Budapest in 2007 and completed the Joint European Master Programme in Comparative Local Development in 2009.

Throughout her career, Anna worked together with very different types of institutions and organisations. As senior desk officer for EU affairs in the Ministry of National Resources of Hungary, she participated in the work of the first Hungarian EU Presidency in 2011 covering social affairs and got an insight into the government sector as well as the work of EU institutions and international organizations. Afterwards she became research grant coordinator at the Central European University. Later she joined the team of the International Office of the Corvinus University of Budapest and managed several international grant schemes, including Erasmus. In parallel, she was appointed as the Executive Director of the Joint European Master Programme in Comparative Local Development.

In HIIA/IFAT, Anna did extensive research on the Western Balkan region, participated in and coordinated several research projects that dealt with issues in details relevant for the security and stability of the region as well as its EU integration path (including the implementation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, violent extremism and foreign fighters, reconciliation, international influence).
